Mission

OUR MISSION IS TO PROMOTE MEDIATION as an alternative means of out-of-court dispute resolution.

This is a whole new culture of conflict resolution, in line with today’s global realities.

Through the professional assistance of the mediators at the Centre, the disputing parties move from defending their legal positions to satisfying real interests, reaching a compromise solution and preserving long-standing relations.

We believe that the worst settlement is better than the best judgment.

The Win-Win method works.

Come and see for yourself!

ACADEMY MEDIATE brings together a wide range of professionals – mediators, not only from the legal profession, but also from all other professions – psychologists, economists, engineers, etc., maintaining a high level of their training and continuing education, including exchange of experience and good practices with mediators from abroad.

We offer up-to-date TRAINING FOR MEDIATORSCERTIFYING and ADVANCING, which are at the highest level, given our many years of practical experience in the field of mediation and out-of-court dispute resolution. The trainings end with a CERTIFICATE according to Regulation No. 2 to the Mediation Act.

Our highly qualified specialists also conduct TRAINING IN COMMUNICATION, the so-called soft skills, which are increasingly valued in modern business and communication and are becoming a must for all self-respecting professionals, regardless of the business field.

MEDIATION is a method of voluntary dispute resolution in which the parties are assisted by a third, neutral and impartial person – a mediator – to reach a mutually acceptable agreement. It is one of the means of out-of-court dispute resolution, along with arbitration.

The mediation procedure is informal and entirely confidential. It can be initiated both before filing documents in court and during a pending lawsuit.

The Bulgarian Code of Civil Procedure has long provided for the possibility of voluntary resolution of a dispute brought before the court. At the first hearing of the case, the judge is obliged to invite the parties to settle.

In December 2004 the Bulgarian Mediation Act was adopted. According to the law, the subject of mediation may be civil, commercial, labour, family and administrative disputes related to consumer rights and other disputes between natural and/or legal persons. Mediation can also be used in criminal cases in cases where the Criminal Procedure Code allows it – most often in disputes of a criminal private-law nature – defamation and insult, etc.

A Unified Register of Mediators has also been established at the Ministry of Justice. Mediators who have undergone training that meets the requirements of the Ministry and have received a Mediator Certificate from a licensed training organization, such as ACADEMY MEDIATE, are listed there.
